Genshin Impact was an instant hit from the moment it came out in 2020 and only became more popular. The key to its success is constant updates, adding seasonal events, and new content. This evolving universe allows players to jump in at any point and start the action. It's one of the best Android games available today and it's free to play, aside from optional transactions you can make for premium upgrades. However, there are some downsides to the fantasy world.
The touch controls in this game are pretty decent and responsive enough that you can easily keep up with the PC or PlayStation players via cross-play. The larger the screen, the better, so playing on a larger phone or tablet will give you a better experience.
One of the best parts of the game is the cast of characters, with dozens of playable characters that can be unlocked and each has its own unique abilities. You will need these as certain elements work better against particular enemies, so mixing and matching your 4-player party is a key to success. Unlocking the characters through the game might be frustrating, but with microtransactions, it could be easier. However, let's get back to the downsides we mentioned before.
The game is not supporting controller input on mobile, which is a massive oversight, while they already adapted the game for PlayStation. This can especially be a problem if you have a smaller or older phone, which will definitely create trouble with controls.
Another downside may be that you can't finish many quests until you level up. There are entire questlines that you won't be able to start until reaching a certain level and they will sit in your quest log. To level up, you might be forced to spend a lot of experience boosters.
In general, this is a great game and it's successfully adapted for use on mobile devices and tablets. The developer knows how to keep players interested in the long run. Since the game is free-to-play, there is no harm in trying it out.
