I believe that each of us has our own gaming unicorn - a mystical sequel to an expensive series that has not been around for a long time. The original Mario Smash Football came out on GameCube in 2005 and brought matches marked by rough starts, crazy punches, and top-notch entertainment. His 2007 sequel Mario Strikers Charged was even more insane.
For 15 years, the only option for playing ball in the mushroom kingdom was to take old consoles out of the closet. Battle League has similar football foundations as its predecessors. And those foundations come down to two teams with goals at both ends. All other similarities with real football end there. Here players can control the ball from any part of the body, including the hand, even if they are not goalkeepers. The match is played for a total of four minutes with the stop when the goal is scored, and in case of a tie, the rule of the golden goal follows. Matches take place in arenas with an electric fence, which is why the ball is always inside the game.
It all starts with creating a team consisting of four players and a goalkeeper. You can manage four players on the field alone or with others. We have a total of ten characters to choose from Mario, Bowser, Luigi, Peach, Rosalina, Yoshi, Toad, Donkey Kong, Wario, and Waluigi.
All the characters have their unique punch. All statistics can be changed by equipment. The equipment looks like it was stolen from a rugby match. The goalkeeper is always controlled by the computer.
The strokes are beautifully animated and look great, but it’s not possible to interrupt that animation. But the game simply lacks content. But I think this is one of those games that will get better and better with new extensions. I hope that in addition to expanding the poor number of characters, we will also get some new, concrete mods.
